For Illustration Friday - theme this week is “Fast”. Mixed media on cereal box, including my photo of a mannequin in a store window.

Last of this week’s series. I was trying to use up some old foil stars that I’ve had for years. They were supposed to have gummed backs, but I think the gum was already worn out when I bought them, so I have to glue them down. Another excuse to get my fingers dirty.

Recycled bits.

I learned to fry paint over the weekend. I recycled an old piece and covered it with heavy body acrylic, then dried it with my heat gun. I got a little too close and the paint bubbled up and got a really nice texture to it. It reminded me of times my brother and I spent out by our trash-burning barrel melting leftover plastic tile while the sun went down.

For Illustration Friday theme: Frozen.

The idea was better than the execution, but it was a good experiment with Sharpies and Gelly Rolls on different kinds of paper. Biggest question: will a white gelly roll pen overwrite a dark sharpie?

First in another short series of cultural commentary. I love cadmium yellow.

Collage on found green notecard & manila file folder. Manila is a bit too flimsy for me; I don’t think I’ll use it as a base paper again.

I giggled the most over the “low-life punk” card, but this one turned out to be my favorite of the 4-item series. Can’t decide if I really like collage on watercolor paper. It takes well to paint & gel medium; it even holds up with the smashed root beer cap I attached to it (a “gold star” for “good behavior”).

Ha! Thirty years yet before she can go Internet Shopping! What damage she could do!

Just scarfed 4 old Life magazines on ebay for six dollars. Best deal ever, if they’re in good shape.
