spring forward decor
Even a tiny ball of loose threads can be a work of art!
Remants of my latest quick-and-dirty redecorating project. I have a small settee, found on craigslist, which really belongs to my dog. To keep the settee in reasonably nice condition I have an old quilt that my dog likes to lay on. You can see from the photo it is stained so much from the clay dirt she brings in on muddy days that it will never be brightly colored again. She also chewed some holes in it and chewed the corners on the mismatched pillows. (She loves to lay her head on pillows, I don’t know why she chews the corners.)
I bought a yard of red fabric and 1-1/2 yards of check fabric for about $10, and quickly sewed two new pillow covers and a cover for the old quilt. I didn’t even use a measure; I just folded the fabric to a square about the size I wanted and stitched two sides. I stuffed the pillow inside (after washing it) and whip-stitched the edge. I wasn’t sure Phoebe would take to the new cushion, because sometimes she is extremely wary of new things, but as you can see the new setup seems to suit her. The new colors set off her fur and make her look even cuter. And I have a sofa that looks like it’s ready for another season of life.
