glitter tags

Hanna inspired me to “get crafty” with her Gift Tag Tutorial yesterday, so I headed out in search of glitter. The day was full of sunshine and warmth; so nice after the ice and snow earlier in the week. I found a cheap packet of glitter for under a dollar at my local Michael’s and also this corner punch, which was on sale for almost half its regular price.

I bought a 1/4″ punch. It makes corners the same size as those on a playing card, so it’s perfect for ATCs. It’s really easy to use, but you can’t insert a piece smaller than about 1.5 to 2 inches square into it. I got a 50% off coupon to use next week so I may have to go back and get another different punch.

This was my favorite tag from yesterday. It was originally a thicker than normal price tag, and it took several layers of gesso and paint to cover up the printing. It already had a hole in the top and just needed the corners trimmed.

I wasn’t sure I liked the way the glitter turned out, so I’m going to experiment some more later today when another cold front is supposed to hit. I’ll be happy to be indoors. My dining table is covered with glitter, and I’m tempted to start working on Christmas cards for next year. I remember when I was little I was always most thrilled at the cards we got that had glitter on them. Most store-bought cards don’t have “good” glitter on them any more. I may have to use up my whole tube of glitter.

Marcia, how amazing it is when I can inspire someone like this. Thanks for letting me know and sharing your tags. I love the glitter and stars together! And corner punches, I can tell you’re getting addicted already… hehe. Happy Holidays!
