bird door
Seems like I can’t take a walk around this neighborhood without finding some new piece of architecture to fascinate me. This is a detail from a beatup screen door (now screenless, I believe). It’s the only one I’ve seen around here with this design. And of course I like the little turnbuckle that’s holding it together. It makes yet another piece of art that I’ll look for next time I go down that street.
It’s one of those things that makes me wonder about the “westsiders” in McKinney, the populace who live on the west side of Interstate 75. That’s the new part of McKinney, where all the houses look alike, where people don’t have back yards, where they mostly live indoors with their huge square footage. I know people have to have a place to live, but why do all the houses have to look the same? When I stayed with some friends over there while my house’s foundation was being repaired the only way I knew which house was the right house was by the cars parked out front. Otherwise, I would have to go by the street address, or count how many houses from the corner it was.
