It’s raining again today.

In March while staying with friends I read almost every decorating book they had in their house. One idea that caught my attention was a comic-covered metal chair. It gave a new face to “pop art”, as the colors were really in your face. I have an old dark bookcase that I thought would look really cool with a comic collage, but I gave all my comic books to my brother some years ago. So I went exploring on the web for something new and I found a series from 1994 called Barb Wire. “Barb”, or “Barbara”, rides a motorcycle and kicks butt when she has to. I really liked the illustrations from the first few issues, which were done by Dan Lawliss, and I found the first six issues on eBay for just five dollars. I made copies of my favorite pages, intending to decoupauge the old bookcase, which I started to do yesterday. The project doesn’t look quite right, though, so I’m changing direction. The bookcase will be too bright for the living room, as I’m mixing colors on the walls and trim in there. I still plan to use this idea and these clippings, but on a different piece of furniture.

Sometimes your grand ideas want to lead a different life than the one you had planned for them.
