corinth cemetery
I returned to this almost-abandoned cemetery over the weekend. The thick foliage from last summer had been mowed down, probably with a good-sized tractor. The corner of the lovely metal fence had been opened and was bent down; someone didn’t care enough to put it together again. The plants that were mown have dried to a thick carpet of hay-like material. There were more gravestones than I had expected, but many of them are broken and/or laying flat on the ground. I tried to clean up a bit around the stones I was photographing, but it was a lot of work for an out-of-shape person, and I wanted to save some energy for photography. I wore my boots and long pants, as I thought there might be snakes, and I had gloves to help with removal of the mown debris, but I need more tools to do a good job. Maybe I’ll make it out there again before new green (and much tougher) plants take over.
I unintentionally uploaded the full-sized photo, so if you click on the above pic you’ll be able to see stuff more clearly.
