crazed goats & coffee in mckinney

ok, I haven’t posted in a while. I had to dig into the old iPhoto archives to come up with something. Here’s part of the mural from the “coffee’n'cream” establishment in ye olde downtowne McKinney celebrating the discovery of coffee beans by an observant goat herd who noticed the goats were particularly frisky after consuming some little red berries growing on some nearby shrubs. One version sets the story in Ethiopia; this one sets it in Arabia. Well, somewhere over there…. I haven’t got into the coffeee habit this year; I’m still consuming gallons of chai tea. There could be some coffee for me in the near future.

It’s so easy to get in or out of a habit. I’ve often heard it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. I think what I tend to do is to go 20 days doing something and then my brain switches over to some new interest for the next 20 days. I never quite get over that hump so the habits I want to keep get cemented into position.

Lately I’ve given up the cemeteries and the watertowers in favor of organizing my genealogy notes. What a mess. I’ve got 4 notebooks of hand-written notes and kraft envelopes filled with correspondence and copies of wills, deeds, photos, maps and I don’t know what else. I’m transcribing the handwritten notes and organizing the contents of the kraft envelopes into file folders in a filing cabinet with actual labels on the file folders. So let those who would take up genealogy be warned: get organized! Else Chaos will ensue.
