The acorns have ceased their relentless attacks. They’ve been raining down on us every time we go out the back door as the oak trees’ mounted their last protest against the changing weather. Even Phoebe was ducking her head every time something whoosed past. Now the trees are dropping their leaves as autumn rushes toward the inevitable first hard frost. The “weather people” say the warm weather will end on Thanksgiving - all the more reason to be thankful for whatever warm weather we get this week.

This warning sign is posted just beyond the beginning of the gravel-covered county road that leads to Warden Cemetery. I probably didn’t notice it last time because of the thick canopy of leaves still holding to the trees, but I was also scanning the road for “no trespassing” signs. I don’t like to disturb folks that far from civilization as you never know when they might have a shotgun at the ready for city folks like me. There’s an old trailer and a beat up truck only 30 feet or so from the road in the general vicinity of this sign, and it’s hard to tell if it’s just trash or if it’s occupied. I was dying to get out and shoot it, but not dying to be shot dead. Maybe I’ll chance a shot next time just with the long lens.

While I haven’t been blogging, I’ve not been idle. I got nearly half of the gravestones at Warden Cemetery inventoried while spending a peaceful time listening to crows cawing and the machinery from a nearby farm.
