It seems like I’ve spent all week at the dentist’s office. I lost a filling (wasn’t it just the other day an old crown fell off?) and I had to get that tooth and an adjacent one worked on. I got a temporary crown installed yesterday and last night the dang thing fell off so I had to go get it re-glued on today. At this rate I’ll have no time or money left for books or art!

I’m working on improving my diet again. During the summer when we’re swamped at work I get so tired I just don’t care when I stray from my good eating habits and really slack off on my exercise. Now I’ve got to break the bad habits I’ve fallen into again. I don’t know how many times this has happened. You’d think I would learn, wouldn’t you? The only way I can kick my junk food habit is to substitute something healthful that is so yummy I want to eat it every day. I think I have found such a treat. I found this fruit and vegetable stand in Princeton that had the juiciest homegrown tomatoes. The peaches weren’t local, but they were sweet and juicy. Oh, and the produce was cheaper than Wal-Mart’s! Here’s my super sandwich I’m having for lunch:

Lightly toast two slices of whole grain bread.
Spread both sides with hummus.
Slice a bunch of black olives and arrange on one piece.
Put some slices of homegrown tomatoes on top.
Put a big pile of sprouts on that. (I like alfalfa)
Jam the other slice of bread onto the stack & stuff into mouth.

I like hot pickled okra on the side. Yum!

this sandwich sustains me for a good 4 or 5 hours.
Hey! it’s almost lunchtime!
