html lessons

I’ve been working on another web project this weekend, as well as working on the bathroom (it’s getting closer to being done!) I did an inventory on an old cemetery in 1993 for a history project in college and I want to get the info online for any genealogists out there who might need it. I know how frustrating it is when I’m doing family research and I can’t find any gravestone listings in distant locales. I’ve been hoarding this information in digital format of one kind or another for almost 15 years and it’s about time I made it public. It’s been troublesome keeping up with the info as technology keeps changing. I started out with PC Write on an old Tandy 1000 and had my data on little diskettes. later I moved it to Zip Disks after I had bought a Mac and Apple stopped installing slots for diskettes. I began converting my files to QuarkXPress documents but Quark kept updating its software until my files were almost unuseable. I still had my diskettes and my zip disks and now no way to read them. Luckily my brother had copies of my text files on his computer and he emailed me the files. So now they’re going online for posterity. If you click on the “Five Mile Cemetery” link at the upper left sidebar, you can see my progress. I’m learning a lot of html just by looking at peoples’ websites and copying bits of code.
I was searching for photos I shot of the cemetery, and on one strip of negatives I found this photo of my old cat, Tewke. He was a brave cat who killed a humongous rat that was skulking in my kitchen late at night. My hero. He lived with me for about ten years. One day he just didn’t come home. I guess he’s in Kitty Heaven.
